WORKING TITLE

A Cabaret of New Works

Riverside Theatres 27 November 2020

 

Unique to Western Sydney, the Working Title provides opportunities for cabaret and fringe artists to develop their creative skills, performance ideas and industry connections. 

 

Through this program, artists can develop new ways of making and presenting work with, creativity and community exchange at the heart of the program. Working Title will enable artists to test new ideas to new audiences within a low-risk supported environment.

 

What is it?

Over one-night, Working Title will be presenting two back-to-back cabaret performances comprising a variety of acts at the Lennox Theatre at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta. Successful applicants will get the opportunity to present an abstract of their work in a curated program.

 

What are we looking for?

We want to hear from emerging and professional artists working in:

  • Cabaret

  • New Musicals

  • Drag

  • Sketch & Stand up Comedy

  • Playwrights and Songwriters

For works that are:

  • In stages of development 

  • New works presenting for the first audience

  • Existing works in redevelopment looking for a new audience

We will be selecting a range of works to showcase and support. We want to see works that are NEW, EXCITING, CREATIVE and ENTERTAINING.

 

The people we want to work with must be passionate, driven, professional, collaborative and ready to take their work to the next level!

 

What do you get?

You will work with a creative team of industry professionals including producers, a music supervisor and a production manager. You will have access to a professional theatre with a capacity of 206 seats, lighting rig, sound, AV and technical and production personnel. You will be provided with all marketing assets and support, including documentation of the show. The program offers in-kind support valued over $15,000. 

Finally, you will have the opportunity for your work to be seen and to be considered for future development and presentation.   

 

What do you need to do?

If your work is selected

  • Be available for online Zoom meetings, a rehearsal (30 October) and the show (27 November)

  • Participate in audience development and marketing activities 

  • Be proactive in promoting your work

  • Be open to collaboration and input from the creative team

  • Be prepared to take your work to the next level.
